July 2019

I drew chalky characters and helpful objects all over the Town Enclosure Pavilion on the lawn of the Center for the Arts in Jackson, WY. This project was supported by Jackson Hole Public Art.

Characters and objects that usually inhabit the small spaces of paper and pottery suddenly grow larger than life on the panels of the Town Enclosure. Each chalk drawing asks for movement and interaction: as a viewer walks past the images shift and gain context. Some objects provide imaginative interaction; an umbrella waits in an attempt to offer protection to those who stand below. The temporary nature of chalk is an ideal method for capturing the actions of objects acting out and having a life of their own while no one is watching.
